Janet Emerson Public Health Servant Award

The Janet Emerson Public Health Servant Award is presented annually to a public health employee within a local public health department in the state of Texas who has demonstrated extraordinary performance with an exemplary commitment to local public health. This award is a means of expressing gratitude, is a continuing recognition and encouragement of professional accomplishment in local public health, and assures that there is a perpetual capability for recognizing achievements, and urging current enterprise and new efforts.

This award serves as a living memorial to Janet Emerson, who served her community as Chief Executive Director of the Waco McLennan County Public Health District from 1983 until medical retirement in August 2004. During her tenure, Janet successfully responded to many public health issues with her strength of will, affection, judgment, idealism, and achievement that will last a lifetime.

This award is the Texas Association of Local Health Officials' highest accolade for public health servants at the local level.
